Zen has broken Rocket League’s highest-ever MMR rating
It was written in the stars that Alexis "zen" Bernier was going straight to the top of Rocket League, having been donned as the prodigal son from the age of 13, only waiting to step into the shoes of the messiah as he became eligible to do so at 16 (kind of).
But what came next, very few people had written in the script, as the wonderkid set Team Vitality on a path to complete and unwavering dominance in the RLCS 22-23 season, completing the first-ever perfect split before hoisting the World Championship trophy.
Now, after one small setback in the 2024 season, zen is really putting his foot down to get back on top, and this revenge arc has seen him break an all-time record in Rocket League history.
Zen breaks the all-time-high Rocket League MMR rating
Having been eliminated from an RLCS even for the first time in his career (on the sixth attempt), zen appears to have knuckled down and has been smashing his way through the 2v2 ladder, getting prepared for a return to the top.
But zen has now gone above and beyond, and broken the record for the highest MMR in Rocket League history, by achieving a rating of 2,623.
This sits over 1,200 MMR above the Grand Champion 1 qualification, of which the disparity is bigger than the gap from Bronze 3 to GC1, highlighting how far ahead he is from the rest of the pack.
Rocket League MMR record history
The previous record was set by Spacestation Gaming starlet Logan "Lj" Wilt, who soared his MMR up to 2,618 back in Season 23.
Other legends of the game have come close too, with Evan "M0nkey M00n" Rogez, Caden "Sypical" Pellegrin, and Tristan "Atow." Soyez being the only three other players to have ever peaked over the 2,600 MMR barrier.
zen's legacy in Rocket League is already legendary, despite only being eligible to compete in RLCS for a year, and having spent his 17th birthday grinding the Ranked ladder, there's only more to come from the prodigal son.
