Looks like a Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel is coming
There are some rumblings in the Force, as it looks like the Star Wars games are coming back (and in greater numbers). Respawn Entertainment has made no bones about wanting a Cal Kestis trilogy, and now, a sequel to 2023's Jedi: Survivor could already be in the works.
Following the success of 2018's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it was no surprise that Respawn moved forward with a sequel to the sci-fi Soulslike. Jedi: Survivor might've been delayed (slightly) from its original release, but with five years between the first two games, could we be looking at 2028 for a threequel?
Respawn is already hiring for more Star Wars Jedi games
As spotted by Tech4Gamers, Respawn has been on a hiring spree for the Star Wars Jedi series. Alongside a Senior VFX Artist, the team is looking for a Principal Game Writer and Audio Engineer, - with all these job descriptions mentioning "Star Wars Jedi" and confirming it's related to Kestis' next adventure.
The Principal Game Writer will be responsible for writing dialogue, scenes, and story treatments while being able to "share their hard-earned expertise to help us create an incredible Star Wars experience for our players in a fun, third-person action-adventure setting."
The Senior VFX artist needs over six years of experience and skills with Unreal Engine 5 is a big bonus, seemingly confirming the Jedi: Survivor sequel will be created in UE5. It's much the same with the Audio Engineer, all while Respawn is bolstering the ranks of its Star Wars teams.
It might not be a Jedi: Survivor sequel
Before we go pencilling in a release date for a Jedi: Survivor sequel, bear in mind this might not be for a sequel. There's been no mention of a Survivor DLC, but that could be one potential avenue. Then again, we imagine Respawn would've hired a DLC a long time ago if one was on the way.
Over on the Electronic Arts job site, there's also a run of jobs for Respawn's mysterious Star Wars FPS. The team behind Apex Legends is powering forward with the title and seemingly abandoned the likes of Titanfall 3 to focus on the galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars Jedi Game Director Stig Asmussen previously explained how he'd envisioned this as a trilogy before Survivor was even in the works. We imagine Respawn is building its own clone army of devs for Cal's next adventure, and whether that's a DLC or a full-blown third game, we're excited for Kestis to swing his lightsaber again.
