Like those in the past, the month's Spotlight Hours are great for catching tons of featured Pokemon not just to farm Candy, but the bonus rewards each event comes with as well.
So, let's get into each Spotlight Hour in the game this month.

May is packed with five featured Pokemon across four Spotlight Hour events. I'd say Niantic saved the best for first by bundling Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee together for their own special day.
For the remaining three Pokemon like Abra, each of their Spotlight Hours makes it an ideal chance to farm enough Candy to evolve them and further complete your Pokedex.
When is the next Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour?
The next Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour is for Abra, taking place on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6PM to 7PM.
The Psi Pokemon is not only the star of the show, but there will also be a Double Evolution XP bonus to reward you for evolving them (as well as any other Pokemon in your collection).

Can Abra be Shiny?
Yes, Abra can be Shiny in Pokemon GO, meaning you can also get a Shiny Kadabra and Alakazam when you evolve it.
Even though these Shinies are available in Pokemon GO, the Spotlight Hour won't increase your likelihood of encountering the different-coloured variant. You're going to need a mix of luck and patience to get a Shiny, so catch as many as you can during this hour.

Remember, you only have one hour to enjoy the boosted spawns and find a Shiny.
How to get ready for a Spotlight Hour
Click to enlargeTo make the most of the brief one-hour window during each Spotlight Hour, you should also stock up on essential items that can further boost the bonuses you'll get:
- Lucky Eggs to double XP for 30 minutes each
- Star Pieces to double Stardust for 30 minutes each
- Incenses to attract more Pokemon encounters to you for 60 minutes
- Lure Modules to attract more Pokemon to a nearby PokeStop for 30 minutes
- Pinap Berries to double Candy for a Pokemon - increasing the amount for the featured Pokemon in a Spotlight Hour
- Razz Berries to increase the likelihood of catching a Pokemon - increasing the amount you can catch in a Spotlight Hour
If you miss the 60-minute window, you'll still be able to catch the featured monsters in Pokemon GO as normal - albeit with the standard wild encounter rate, which can be quite low.
