One of the best things about Pokemon GO is the different events that pop up every week, and May is no exception with plenty to look forward to!

From themed days and weekends to PokeStop Showcases, Community Days, and even more Spotlight Hours, there's lots to enjoy in this World of Wonders Season. So, let's dive into all of the events going on this month.

Pokemon GO events schedule for May 2024

Below, you’ll find the upcoming events schedule for Pokemon GO, as announced on a post from the game's X (formerly Twitter) page.

I'll keep it updated as new information gets revealed, so make sure you check back regularly.

GO Battle Weekend (May 4 - 5)

Kicking the month off is another Pokemon GO Battle weekend. With this event, you'll be able to take on Trainers around the world with the following bonuses:

  • 4x Stardust for win rewards
  • You can play 20 sets per day instead of five, for a total of 100 battles
  • Free Timed Research including the Hala-Style avatar item as a reward

Rivals Week (May 4 - 9)

Rivals Week isn't about battling your rivals, as the name implies. Instead, this event is all about pairs of Pokemon who are rivals with each other: Zangoose and Seviper, Throh and Sawk, and Heatmor and Durant.

You'll have an increased chance of encountering Shiny versions of these rival Pokemon, so this is the perfect chance to fill out your collection.

Flock Together Research Day (May 11)

Another Research Day is coming to Pokemon GO, this time featuring Flying-type Pokemon! You'll be able to encounter Spearow, Doduo, Hoothoot, Taillow, and Rufflet with boosted Shiny odds through event-exclusive Field Research tasks.

Pidgey, Murkrow, Wingull, Starly, Pidove, and Fletchling will appear more frequently in the wild, although they won't have boosted Shiny odds. There will also be paid-for Timed Research available for $1 in the shop.

Catching Wonders (May 14 - May 19)

One of the most exciting events this month is Catching Wonders, which will see the elusive Master Ball return once again! Longtime fans will know this rare Poke Ball guarantees an immediate catch of any Pokemon, including the Galarian Legendary Birds.

You'll need to complete a long-winded Masterwork Research to get the Master Ball, but it will be worth it. This is the third time the Master Ball has been available in the mobile game, so make sure you log in during the event and don't miss your chance!

Bounsweet Community Day (May 19)

Trainers can enjoy another exciting Community Day this month with Bounsweet appearing as the headliner! As well as spawning more frequently in the wild from 2PM to 5PM local time, this Grass-type Pokemon will have boosted Shiny odds.

If you evolve a Tsareena during event hours, it will know the featured attack High Jump Kick. This is a Fighting-type Charged Move that looks like it'll be a great addition to Tsareena's moveset. As always, there will be bonuses and a Special Research quest in the shop too.

Ultra Space Wonders (May 23 - 28)

The season-ending Ultra Space Wonders event will feature the debut of two powerful Ultra Beasts in 5-Star Raid Battles: Blacephalon in the Western Hemisphere and Stakataka in the Eastern Hemisphere.

This event will also introduce the final part of the season-long World of Wonders Special Research quest, meaning Trainers will finally be able to evolve their Poipole into Naganadel!

Alongside those features, there will be themed wild spawns, event-exclusive Field Research tasks, new Collection Challenges, Nagandel-themed Avatar Items, and paid-for Timed Research in the Shop.

Ferroseed Incense Day (May 26)

Trainers can enjoy another Incense Day to round out the month of May, this time featuring Ferroseed! From 11AM to 5PM, the Grass/Steel-type Pokemon will appear more frequently whenever Incense is used.

Even better, Ferroseed will have boosted Shiny odds during this event, so now's a great time to add it to your collection. There will also be Grass-type and Steel-type Pokemon spawning in the wild on an hourly schedule.
