5 Reasons Now Is The Time To Jump Into Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is one of the most successful ongoing live service games, and with The Witch Queen rocking on up with new content, story, and much, much more, is now the best time to get back into Destiny 2? The answer to that question, we'd say, is a resounding yes. As a vast and often complicated game, Destiny 2 can be a supremely daunting prospect for new and returning players.
However, with the latest revamps and new additions cropping up thanks to The Witch Queen DLC, we'd say now is the perfect time to get back into Destiny 2.
Don't believe us? Not to worry, as we're here to break down exactly why you should be jumping into Destiny 2 The Witch Queen, regardless of whether you are wielding the light for the first time, or reassembling your old fireteam. Let's get into Guardian.
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: A More Customisable Experience
Destiny 2 has always been a customisable experience, allowing players to work towards and acquire the best gear and weapons. However, it can also be an uncompromising system that relies too heavily on "god rolls" where players pray for the stats that compliment their current loadout.
However, Destiny 2 The Witch Queen is looking to put a keener emphasis on player choice. Thanks to both the new weapons crafting and Void 3.0 systems, players are able to finely tune their Guardian and their gear to make specific builds. Focusing on the weapons, this eliminates the endless grinds only to be dealt a weapon with a poor set of stats and perks, meaning you can get right into a more personal and streamlined experience.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: An Exciting New Narrative
The Destiny storyline can be convoluted at the best of times, and is an absolute headache to wrap your head around. While there is still a lot of lore to keep on top of that precedes The Witch Queen's beginning, it marks the dawn of a new age in the Destiny narrative. The once defined lines between the Light and the Dark (quite simply, good and evil), are now blurring as Savathûn has managed to get her paws on the Light for the first time.
This is the beginning of a new trilogy which will round out the Light vs. Dark narrative, continuing with Lightfall in 2023 and The Final Shape presumably in 2024. This makes it a great time to jump into Destiny 2 as it marks the beginning of the end. However, as something that is rounding out a story that started eight years ago, it also means that for those that are looking for it, they are going to see continuations of story threads dating all the way back to 2015's The Taken King. As someone that was heavily invested in Destiny 1 but dipped out sporadically during Destiny 2's run, The Witch Queen has successfully managed to draw me back in for its narrative alone.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: A Mix-Up Of Enemy Types
When Destiny launched back in 2014, Bungie was heralded for its diversified and challenging enemy types. The Cabal, Hive, Fallen, and Vex all felt unique and required varying tactics. However, since, the Taken have been the only major new enemy variants to enter the fray. And while we aren't going to a new enemy type per se, Savathûn's Lucent Brood sure are aiming to mix things up a bunch.
By stealing the light, players will now be facing off against hive enemies wielding super abilities. You'll need to watch yourself because enemies can now hit back just as hard as you, creating a new power dynamic that promises to make the game as fun as ever, but all the more challenging. The mere thought of a Hive Knight popping off with a killer nova bomb sure is an exciting prospect. However, that second part really links into the next of our reasons that you should be jumping back into Destiny 2 with The Witch Queen.
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: A Greater Challenge
For those that have defeated the Raids, conquered the Grandmaster Nightfalls, and scoured every part of Destiny's solar system, you might feel like the challenge in this often intense shooter has faded off into the stars. However, you couldn't be further from the truth as Bungie is introducing a brand-new difficulty mode for The Witch Queen called Legendary difficulty.
The Destiny 2 Legendary difficulty won't just allow you to soar past the new Destiny 2 power level cap, it will also provide one of the most intense and manic shooter experiences on the market. The new campaign can be played entirely in this difficulty, offering up one of the greatest challenges the game has to offer without having to dedicate hours upon hours into full-teamed Raids.
This can be a great option for newer players who aren't quite ready for the team coordination required in Raids, but are still looking for that searing difficulty. There are also a ton of rewards to gain from the challenge, including weapons, armours, valuable resources, and even Triumph challenges for those completionists out there.
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen: A Whole New Area To Explore
Savathûn's Throne World is the latest addition to Destiny 2's expansive roster of planets, and this one is the creepiest yet. With bogged down swamps and hauntingly ethereal palace levels, Savathûn's Throne World is a brand-new locale to explore for new players and old, with its undiscovered secrets giving new reason to blast aliens with very cool looking weapons.
New locations don't come around every other week, so The Throne World is the perfect excuse to boot up Destiny 2 once more, especially if you are playing on the suited-and-booted next-gen version on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Any returning player will know that Bungie does not mess around with its map and level design, so you can expect to find a new area rich with lore-inspired details and devilish enemy cubbyholes to fight through. Whether it is a flying visit or an all-inclusive holiday, Savathûn's Throne World begs to be checked out.
With all of that covered you have absolutely no excuse not to jump straight into The Witch Queen, as it is proving itself to be the quintessential starting or relaunching point for many a Destiny career. One thing we didn't mention was the brand new weapons type. Find out how to unlock the Destiny 2 Glaive in our guide.
