Bungie reveals Destiny 2 Codename Frontiers for a 2025 release
It’s been a big week for Destiny 2, with Bungie capping off the Light and Darkness saga with The Final Shape expansion, the Salvation’s Edge Raid, and now, a showcase of the episodic content dropping throughout this year.
At the end of that video was confirmation that Destiny 2 will continue, as Bungie revealed Destiny 2: Codename Frontiers.
Destiny 2 will get 2025 content dubbed Codename Frontiers
While reports have suggested Destiny 3 could be in development, it appears we’ll be sticking to Destiny 2 for now - despite the game launching in 2017.
The first episode of Year 10, Echoes, is set to focus on the Vex, while the Fallen will be a key part of Episode 2: Revenant, with a vampire hunter aesthetic that certainly sounds cool in prospect.
The final episode, Heresy, brings back the Hive God pantheon and “shakes up the snowglobe”, sending players back to the Dreadnought destination, which debuted in 2015’s Taken King expansion for the first game.
For more, you can read our review-in-progress where we said:
"The Final Shape is Destiny 2’s peak. It’s not only the game’s best expansion, but one that celebrates all those that came before in a way that feels earned, and could only be achieved by a commitment to a live-service game for a decade.
"New Guardians may have plenty of questions as to what’s going on, but if you’ve spent any time with the franchise in the past, this is worth coming back for."
