Star Wars: Jedi Survivor rated for a surprise rerelease
Cue Darth Vader's heavy breathing because it looks like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor could be about to get a surprise rerelease. It's been well over a year since Respawn Entertainment's sequel was released, but now, Cal Kestis is tipped to pick up his lightsaber all over again.
As the sequel to 2019's Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor's 2023 release put us in that awkward spot between consoles. Although there were originally plans for a PS4 and Xbox One release, they were nixed shortly before release. To be honest, we'd forgotten about the idea of last-gen Jedi: Survivor ports.
Jedi: Survivor could be getting last-gen ports
Shared on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, Jedi: Survivor has apparently been rated for PS4 and Xbox One in Brazil. Although we should take this with a pinch of salt, rating boards are some of the best places to get your concrete gaming news - hinting at a potentially imminent release.
There's no release date just yet, so we're left somewhat in the dark about when these last-gen ports will land. News of a PS4 and Xbox One release resurfaced in August last year when IGN reported that an EA earnings call suggested the ports were in "early stages of development."
Things have gone quiet since, and with Jedi: Survivor being marred with technical problems when it originally launched, some had written off the notion of ever seeing a last-gen port. Despite stock issues having eased up, not everyone has a PS5 or Xbox Series, so we're sure this is a win for some.
Star Wars fans unconvinced by last-gen Jedi: Survivor
Still, others were less convinced, calling it a cheap cash grab for releases that don't need to happen. Responding to the news on Reddit, one sceptic grumbled, "It's still f****d on my PC, which angers me. Sure, I bought this game on sale, but it’s still full of microstutters. This game IS EVIL."
Another added, "Wow, now it can run even worse," and a third said, "What the f**k? I was really confused at first but then remembered that this is EA. Still, never heard of a game released for current gen and only advertised as such just for pre-gen copies to be released out of the blue."
There's a rumbling in the Force, and whether you like it or not, the dark side is destined to milk this cash cow for all its blue milk. Brace yourselves because last-gen ports of Jedi: Survivor are likely to get a baptism of fire akin to Anakin on Mustafar.
