Bosses are one of the biggest appeals of Soulsborne games, and thankfully there are loads of new ones to tackle in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Editor Note:
The list below is currently incomplete but will be expanded upon as we learn more.
All mandatory bosses in order
Order # | Boss | Location |
1 | Divine Beast Dancing Lion |
Click to enlarge Belurat, Tower Settlement |
2 | Golden Hippopotamus |
Click to enlarge Shadow Keep |
3 | Messmer, the Impaler |
Click to enlarge Shadow Keep |
4 | Romina, Saint of the Bud |
Click to enlarge Church of the Bud, Ancient Ruins of Rauh |
5 | Needle Knight Leda & Allies |
6 | Promised Consort Radahn |
These are the six bosses that you need to defeat in order to complete Shadow of the Erdtree, although there are plenty of optional bosses that you'll likely come across too - including six other Remembrance bosses and a super boss.
Optional Remembrance bosses
Boss | Location |
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight |
Click to enlarge Castle Ensis |
Putrescent Knight |
Click to enlarge Stone Coffin Fissure |
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame |
Click to enlarge Midra's Manse |
Scadutree Avatar |
Click to enlarge Scadutree Base |
Commander Gaius |
Metyr, Mother of Fingers |
Click to enlarge Finger Ruins of Miyr |
These bosses are 'main' enough to have their own dedicated Remembrance, but are not required in order to complete the game. I'd definitely recommend searching them all out though, as both the fights and the subsequent rewards are more than worth it!
Optional standard bosses

Bayle the Dread |

These are a mix of bosses in the open field, in the dungeons, and some linked to quests that don't have their own dedicated Remembrances.
Bayle, for example, is the super boss - but instead of a Remembrance, you'll use his heart at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion to get his related items.
How many bosses are there?
I found 28 unique bosses during my playthrough, with two repeats, although there are ones that I'm sure I've missed in dungeons and the open world.
There are 10 Remembrance bosses, but only 6 mandatory bosses are needed to complete the DLC.
Boss tier list
Based on their difficulty and not their quality, here is a full-tier list of every boss in Shadow of the Erdtree:
Tier | Bosses |
S+ | Promised Consort Radahn |
S | Messmer the Impaler, Bayle the Dread |
A | Rellana Twin Moon Knight, Putrescent Knight, Midra Lord of Frenzied Flame, Scadutree Avatar, Commander Gaius, Romina Saint of the Bud, |
B | Divine Beast Dancing Lion, Golden Hippopotamus, Death Knight, Jori Elder Inquisitor, Needle Knight Leda & Allies, Ancient Dragon Senessax |
C | Ancient Dragon-Man, Black Gaol Knight, Metyr Mother of Fingers, Jagged Peak Drake, Rakshasa |
D | Demi-Human Queen Marigga, Curseblade Labirith, Tree Sentinel, Fallingstar Beast, Count Ymir Mother of Fingers, Dancer of Ranah, Rugalea the Great Red Bear, Ghostflame Dragon |
I need to do another run of the DLC to fully evaluate their strengths, but this is based on my first experiences both with and without summons.
