After two years in the Modern Warfare universe, where skins and outfits were carried over for the first time in CoD history, the game as we know it is more a clown-fest than a war moshpit.

Not that it's necessarily a bad thing because the bundles can be a lot of fun, and at this point, it feels like the wackier, the better. But Black Ops 6 isn't having it, and at the very beginning, at least, it will be stripping the franchise back to its basics (except for Warzone).

Already, Treyarch has insisted that the Modern Warfare skins won't carry over into Black Ops, although the bundles that you have paid for can still be used in Warzone.

With a fresh palette to work from, Black Ops will now do away with the wackier costumes and instead get back to basics with military gear and police uniforms.

"So, day one, you won't be running around with any of those skins, so that it doesn't break that immersion in that narrative we want," Treyarch reportedly told CharlieIntel.

This will likely come as music to the ears of many fans, while hated by others, with one-half of the fan base appreciating realism and others wanting their paid bundles to last forever. The news comes after Activision confirmed the carry forward system won't be part of CoD 2024.

This doesn't mean to say that Black Ops 6 will be mil-sim forever. In fact, Halloween comes just a week after launch, and we all know that developers love to enjoy the spooky season.

"We're going to add those things into post-launch. We know players like those stuff, and then we'll find really cool things that tie to Black Ops lore and also new exciting stuff as well."

There are already Zombies characters coming as Operators, and more undead action will likely follow. For now, though, it looks like your remaining hours as Nicki Minaj are ticking, so make it count.
