Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 details revealed ahead of global rollout
TiMi Studio Group and Level Infinite have unveiled the details for the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2. The tournament is set to take place on June 29 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Teams from Southeast Asia, Brazil, Turkey, MENA, LATAM, and Europe, along with the winner of the Open Series Split One, will compete for a share of the $300,000 USD prize pool.
Tournament details
The Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 will gather top teams from various regions. Southeast Asia, Brazil, Turkey, MENA, LATAM, and Europe will all be represented. Additionally, the winner of the Open Series Split One will join the competition.
The tournament boasts a substantial prize pool of $300,000 (~ €276,000 / £222,000). Teams will vie for the prize money and for a chance to participate in the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason. This event will take place during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh and boasts an even larger prize pool of $3,000,000 (~ €2,760,000 / £2,220,000).
The announcement follows the ongoing global rollout of Honor of Kings. On June 20, players from North America, Europe, Japan, and other regions will gain access to the game. They will join those already playing in countries where the game has launched. This expansion allows more players to experience the thrill of intense team-based battles in the popular mobile MOBA.
So far, only two teams have clinched qualification in Season 1, champion Keyd Stars and MENA Partner Qualifier R8 Esports. The other competing teams will be determined through various regional qualifiers - some of which are already under way or soon to begin.
Global roll-out underway
Honor of Kings continues to expand its reach globally, as the game will be available to players in North America, Europe, Japan, and more starting June 20. It's part of a broader strategy aimed at growing the game's player base.
This is already pretty huge, with over 100 million players logging in daily, according to the developer, despite its regional limitations being mostly focused on Asia.
Honor of Kings is a free-to-play 5v5 mobile MOBA title with over 85 heroes for its international release. Moreover, it has an active esports ecosystem, with tournaments such as the Honor of Kings Open Series and the Chinese King Pro League in addition to its international competitions.
