With the real-life tournament on the horizon, that means that the EURO 2024 takeover is nearly here in EA FC 24, giving us a summer of fun with a Festival of Football to enjoy.

Much like the World Cup takeover in FIFA 23, the EUROs present a unique opportunity to celebrate one of the biggest international tournaments with exciting promos and special cards in-game.

When does EURO 2024 start in EA FC 24?

The EURO 2024 takeover officially begins on June 6, 2024, as the Festival of Football brings a completely new game mode and an overhaul in the much-loved Ultimate Team area.

While there is no official start time, it would be very surprising if things didn't kick off at 6PM BST / 10AM PT, as that is when pretty much every new promo, player, and piece of content drops in-game.

New game modes

Headlining the content outside of Ultimate Team is the new UEFA EURO 2024 mode, which lets you play out the tournament in its entirety in a number of different ways.

You can lead your favourite nation to victory, replay and relive real-life matches, and even change the course of history once the tournament is in full swing.

There is also the option to either create your own player or play as an existing one in order to carve your own destiny on the European stage, which is definitely something that I'll be checking out once it drops.

'The European Journey' is also a new feature that allows you to earn rewards by completing challenges in the EURO 2024 game mode. It isn't clear what these challenges will be, nor what rewards you'll be entitled to, but it's definitely something to keep your eyes peeled for.

Ultimate Team updates

Path to Glory is the first promo that we'll be able to enjoy in Ultimate Team, and it follows a similar pattern to last year's World Cup version if you played it.

Similar to other live promos like Road to the Final or FUT Fantasy, Path to Glory gives cards the potential to upgrade based on their nation's performance in the tournament. The upgrade path is as follows:

  • Win 1 (+1 OVR)
  • Win 3 (+1 PlayStyle+)
  • Win Quarter Final (+1 OVR)
  • Win Semi Final (5*/5* or +1 OVR)
  • Win Final (+1 OVR)

As you can imagine, having a player from the winning team can make a card quite strong - so you can either grab one from one of the favourites like France, England, or Germany or test your luck on a dark horse. We all know what happened with Turkey last time though!

There are also Icon and Hero-specific cards called 'Greats of the Game' which upgrade based on the number of goals their nation scores within the tournaments. The boosted stats will certainly be enough of a reason to use them, so the fact they can grow stronger only makes them more appealing.
