To progress through Dave the Diver you’re going to have to face some bosses, and if you want to earn all the trophies/achievements on offer, you’ll need to beat every boss in the game.

Some of these bosses are optional while others are required, so alongside running a great sushi restaurant and searching for fish, you’re going to need to contend with these menacing creatures too - poor old Dave has a lot on his plate.

How many bosses are in the game?

In total, there are 13 bosses in Dave the Diver, with only four of them being optional - so, for the most part, you'll have to overcome the below enemies to progress further.

These bosses range from other people to giant sea creatures and more. Make sure you're prepared with a good weapon before you take them on!

Here are all the bosses that appear in Dave the Diver:

Boss Chapter Optional Method
Giant Squid Chapter 1 No
  •  Aim for the eye, as this is the weak point
  • Avoid the tentacles, so keep moving
John Watson Chapter 2 No
  • Avoid the dotted arc that is attached to his grenade launcher
  • Once he's locked on, swim around where he's aiming and he'll be vulnerable to a shot
  • Try not to get too close as he will hit you and it's hard to avoid
Clione Queen Chapter 2 Yes
  • During this fight you will have limited resources so be careful
  • Make sure you avoid the poison as it will drain your air supply
  • Like previous bosses, the best time to attack is after she has attacked
  • Aim for the head
Wolf Eel Chapter 2 No
  • Open the weapons chest the moment you enter the fight as there is a Sniper in there
  • Attacks are in order: vacuum attack, disappear underground and lunges, emerges from either side of the screen
  • After he has cycled through attacks he'll go to retreat which is when you should attack his exposed tail
Truck Hermit Crab Chapter 3 Yes
  • Can only be done at night during the Stormy Night side mission
  • Pick up the explosive barrels that are brought up by the crab and drop them on him, between his eyes and the truck
Goblin Shark Chapter 3 Yes
  • Appears during the Curious Child side quest (must complete Find the Children's Ball first)
  • If you keep your distance and move this boss is very simple as he has very few attacks
  • With this boss, you just need to avoid and shoot, but it isn't too hard
John Watson (Again) Chapter 4 No
  • Your weapons won't work on him so go to the supply crate to get a Baseball Bat
  • Avoid the missile, which is his fourth attack and then get John from behind with the Bat - this is the best time to attack
Mantis Shrimp Chapter 4 Yes
  • If you complete Stormy Night 2, you will get a side quest once in the Abandoned Cave
  • Wait for the Mantis Shrimp to attack with this boxing gloves, then shoot his eyes
  • The Ground Pound is the best time to shoot him
Giant Gadon Chapter 5 No
  • Hit the big flashing light in the dark room to begin the scrap
  • The key here is to keep swimming down the corridor avoiding the dropping shards as you go
  • Keep swimming away until you're prompted to push the buttons on the screen to escape
Phantom Jellyfish Chapter 6 No
  • Avoid the exploding jellyfish sent out at you
  • You need to avoid the attacks, until you stab the eye three times then you've won the fight
Helicoprion Chapter 6 No
  • Before the Helicoprion lunges, this is when you attack as it pauses for a second
  • At around the halfway point, the boss will roar, but their moves don't change
  • Bait it into charging you whilst you're in front of the rock and move - this will do a healthy amount of damage
Kronosaurus Chapter 6 No
  • Step one is to avoid John Watson's Dekken-9 Submarine, eventually the Kronosaurus will appear
  • Grab the missile launcher off the fallen submarine to deal some huge damage
  • He does really big damage, so make sure to avoid being hit at all costs
  • There are plenty of chests, clams and ammo dotted around the arena so keep stocking up
Yawie Chapter 7 No
  • This boss has four phases
  • Start shooting immediately once the fight begins
  • Use the slowdown ability to keep the fight at your pace
  • Charging the laser slows you down so make sure you have time when activating it
  • During phase three stay in the middle to avoid damage
  • In the final stage, you have to run away and avoid attacks before hitting the button prompts that appear on the screen
