Latest MW3 patch makes big changes to Highrise for Ranked and CDL
Picture this: You've just spawned in on Highrise Control, and you're on a two-match loss streak and tilting slightly. You smash through the windows and attack the A point. Bam, one dead, another appears through mid-alley and bam, another dead.
Then you flip around and two have made the route through underground and you've read it expertly, dropping them both as you start progress on the capture point -- BOOM. The damn propane tank.
It's a tale all too familiar with Ranked players on Modern Warfare 3 as the propane tank has claimed thousands of lives. But it will claim its last on May 30.
Modern Warfare 3 changes Highrise's most-annoying feature for Ranked
Heading into Modern Warfare 3 Season 4, players will no longer be blown to smithereens by random explosions at the hands of gas canisters and propane tanks.
This includes the two massive tanks that are found on both sides of the map (A point and above the elevators) and any other smaller explosives that can be found underground and on top of the helipad.
"Environmental explosives are no longer present in CDL and Ranked Play modes," says Call of Duty in its Season 4 patch notes.
The wording is open to interpretation though, as it's not yet sure whether the smaller explosives will be removed, or made dormant, which would change the complexion of the helipad region where the oil casts serve as headglitches until they're blown up.
MW3 changes Hardpoint Hills for 6 Star again
Ranked players will be in for yet another strategy overhaul too, as 6 Star is due to get another Hardpoint overhaul, dropping to a four-hill rotation system, instead of the usual five.
It's the second time in consecutive seasons that these changes have happened, with Season 3's rotations not being well received.
These changes will also come into play for the Call of Duty League, presumably from the start of the Major 4 Qualifiers next Friday or before the World Championships in July.
