CS Pro carries his team to victory despite suffering from food poisoning
Before the Counter-Strike match between Natus Vincere and Complexity, Michael "Grim" Wince caught food poison, causing him to be sick before and after the match. Despite the circumstances, the American player put on a show and helped his team to a major upset over the recent Major winner.
Complexity take down Na’Vi
ESL Pro League Season 19 is well underway in St.Julian, Malta, with 32 of the best Counter-Strike teams facing off against each other. Separated into groups, Complexity and Na'Vi were drawn into Group D, having to fight for one of the two qualifying rounds for the playoff stage. In the upper bracket final, the two met to gain favourable seeding into the later round.
Hot off their surprising Major victory at PGL Copenhagen, Na'Vi were among the favourites to make it out, with BIG, NIP, and HEROIC being the other notable teams with a shot to make it to the playoffs. While Complexity has been showing solid performances for a North American team, they've continued to struggle against top European line-ups, finishing in 9-11th place at the Major after losses against MOUZ, Team Vitality, and FaZe Clan.
In a close 2-1 series with map scores of 13-8, 9-13, and 8- 13 on Ancient, Anubis, and Nuke, respectively, Complexity pulled off the upset victory against the Major champions. This was not least due to the performance of Grim, who played lights out throughout the entire match, keeping Complexity in the running for map 1 for the longest time.
Grim puts on a clinic
After the match, Complexity's Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli, and Ricky "floppy" Kemery sat down for an interview with broadcast talents Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill and Tres "stunna" Saranthus to discuss their outstanding performance, joking that they had practically won the Major by transitive property.
When asked about Grim's condition who appeared to be struggling throughout the match, his teammates shared details on his situation with SPUNJ, enquiring why there was a bucket next to Grim's seat. "He’s been puking like 14, 15 times the entire day. He hasn’t eaten in 30 hours," hallzerk explained, while EliGe was quick to point out that it didn’t seem to hurt his aim.
With the victory over Na'Vi, Complexity has afforded themselves a couple more days of downtime and for Grim to recover, awaiting their opponent in the quarterfinals on May 9th, facing off against the winner of the match between The MongolZ vs GamerLegion/Virtus.Pro.
