While first stepping into the Lands Between back in 2022 and being repeatedly pummeled by the Tree Sentinel was enough to put some people off Soulsborne games for life, streamer Kai Cenat seems to be a glutton for punishment. Having polished off his Elden Ring marathon, he's back for more.

We already outlined Cenat's hopes of becoming his very own Hidetaka Miyazaki by taking on the FromSoftware library, and with Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC having just launched on June 21, there was no better time to don his armour in the Land of Shadow.

Kai Cenat's Shadow of the Erdtree stream is grinding to a halt

For those who are new to FromSoft's world, it's fair to say that Elden Ring wasn't one for the faint-hearted. However, with the long-awaited DLC having to up the difficulty to prevent veteran Tarnished from cheesing it with ease, it's been struck with complaints it's too hard. Now, Kai Cenat is finding that out the hard way.

We noted in our Shadow of the Erdtree review that it definitely felt like a harder game, but while some sites have been unfairly dragged across the coals for saying this, we already knew what to expect. Unfortunately for Kai Cenat, it doesn't seem he expected just how gruelling the DLC's final boss would be.

At the current count, Kai Cenat has been hit by a whopping 956 Elden Ring deaths and has been playing for over 82 hours. The real kicker is that 50 of those hours have been spent tackling Promised Consort Rahadn - equating to over 550 of those deaths.

Right now, Cenat is chilling in his Shadow of the Erdtree-inspired man cave and it looks like he's about to catch some sleep, presumably to return to the fight refreshed. The problem is that Cenat is performing a no-summon run, which makes things excruciatingly harder.

When Cenat reached 900 deaths, he looked nearly defeated and told his viewers, "I cannot get to 1,000 bro, I cannot get to 1,000. I will not get to 1,000, I will NOT get to 1,000." While Cenat is trying to manifest victory against Promised Consort Radahn, that milestone 1,000 deaths is looming.

At least he has plenty of support, with The Verge's Tom Warren saying, "Respect for the no summons approach 🫡." the eXputer account added, "There's nothing more humbling than watching a soldier who doesn't give up 💪."

Others thought he's mad, as one fan said, "If 'get gud' means 50hrs on one boss then count me dafuq out." Someone else concluded, "This is why I will never even start playing Elden Ring. Life is too short." We wish Kai Cenat all the luck in the world, but with some saying this is the hardest FromSoft boss ever, we don't envy his plight.
