Best ways to find wonderkids in Football Manager 2024
If you want a save in Football Manager 2024 to have legs, you’re going to need to know how to find some wonderkids. When you first begin a save in FM24 you know, or have a rough idea of who the very best youngsters are in the game.
You’ve probably already scouted most of them. They won’t stay young forever and before you know it, they’re no longer wonderkids - they either make it or they flop. Below, we'll outline all the different ways you can find the next generations of amazing talents - as well as what you need to look out for when scouting regen wonderkids.
Every way to find wonderkids in FM24
If you find a way to have a constant stream of wonderkids running through your club, you can set yourself up for quite some time. To do this successfully, you will need to find the players - and there are a few different ways of searching them out.
The NXGEN top 50 list
The easiest way of finding wonderkids is the NXGEN top 50 list. In March of every season, you will get an email titled the NXGEN top 50 list and it has, you guessed it, 50 of the hottest prospects around right now. All you need to do is scout each of them and wait for the reports to come back.
The players on this list are not necessarily the very best wonderkids around, just the ones included in the email. To make the list, it's normally players who have already started to build up a bit of a reputation and get minutes for their club - this is why it's still worth knowing how to find wonderkids yourself.
Scouting wonderkids
Although the NXGEN top 50 is the easiest way to find these players, largely because you don’t have to do anything, it isn’t very proactive. Often players on the list have just had big moves to clubs and you missed out on a true bargain. To avoid this from happening, you can scout them yourselves.
The best way to do this is to go into your scouting centre and search for players with the following filters on:
- Make sure your oldest age is set to 20
- Searching by players who have international caps at a young age
- Going to the traditionally more successful nations and scouting their youth squads
- Change your scouting overview to add media description
- Select copy of overview
- From the dropdown select custom > customise current view
- Scroll down to media description
- Select it to add it
My favourite of the above, personally, is adding the media description to your overview. You will need to have good scouts, but now you can filter by this option, scroll down to W and there are all the wonderkids you seek.
To truly find great youngsters, you will need to do a combination of all of the above and take a look every few months just in case any great players have started to develop.
What makes a good wonderkid in FM24?
There are a few things you will want when looking for your future generation of players, these include:
- Already have good stats
- Good injury record
- High potential in stars
- No player traits that may hinder their progress
- Very high determination should guarantee they succeed
If they tick all of the above boxes, then you could have a star on your hands. Most of the players will be between 18 and 20, but a few may be a bit younger. The only downside to signing wonderkids is they can be inconsistent at first but, they also require getting a work permit for them - which can be a pain.
