Exclusive Magic The Gathering's Wilds of Eldraine card reveal
Wizards of the Coast's Magic The Gathering is about to get its 97th expansion (that's right, NINETY SEVEN), but if you felt like the game was about to start slowing down, you couldn't be more wrong.
The next set, Wilds of Eldraine, brings us back to an existing location, but with a fairytale spin - expect unique twists on characters like the Gingerbread Man, Red Riding Hood, and even a rather unsettling Golden Goose (check out our preview for more).
If you're looking to find fresh cards to your deck, we've got good news - Wizards of the Coast has offered GGRecon an exclusive card reveal - here's Eriette's Tempting Apple.
- Did you know there's never been a better time to start playing Magic The Gathering?
Magic The Gathering's Wilds of Eldraine card reveal: Eriette's Tempting Apple
Eriette's Tempting Apple is a Legendary Artifact, and allows players to take control of an opponent's creature - even untapping it. The creature will also gain haste, meaning you can attack using it straight away, making it an ideal card to play once your opponent has summoned something particularly troublesome, even if they've already used it to attack you.
Since it's also an Artifact of the Food type, it can be sacrificed, too. Unlike traditional food tokens, however, Eriette's Tempting Apple has two options for sacrifice. While it can be sacrificed to gain 3 life a la other cards of its type, it can also be sacrificed to take 3 life from your opponent.
If you recognised the Tempting Apple from previously revealed cards, we're glad you've been paying attention. The clue is in the name, too, with Eriette herself appearing as part of Wilds of Eldraine.
You can see her card above, and while it doesn't mention the Tempting Apple by name, it does offer mechanical synergy with the opportunity to drain life from your opponent based on controlled Auras.
You don't have to look too far to see the inspiration for either the Tempting Apple or Eriette herself, with both clearly being inspired by the evil queen from Snow White.
Will you be looking to add Eriette's Tempting Apple to your deck? I'll certainly be looking to add it to my collection for Alayna Danner's stunning artwork alone.
