How to make a camp in Dragon's Dogma 2 with a Camping Kit
Dragon’s Dogma 2 features a day-and-night cycle with deadly darkness and a health bar that slowly whittles away as you take more damage.
So, resting up for a good sleep to restore your health and skip the gloom is essential. Inns provide shelter in towns and cities, but when you’re out in the wilderness, the game requires you to set up camp - so here's how to do it.
How to set up camp
First things first, you’ll need to buy or find some camping gear. A modest camping kit can be purchased for just 500 gold from Runne’s Apothecary in Melve. Or, you could buy the DLC camping gear.
Once you’ve got your gear, give it to your main Pawn because it’s quite heavy and Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t give you much inventory space. Venture out into the wilds and look out for a smouldering campfire. You can spot their embers rising into the air at night. I tend to find them just off pathways, so you shouldn't need to go too far off the beaten track to find them.
These are the only places you can set up camp. Once you find one, it will be marked on your map forever, so you’ll be able to find it again easily if you’re in a pinch.
Before setting up, I’d advise you to clear your surroundings of any goblins, griffins, ogres, harpies, and anything else that might want to eat your Arisen while they sleep soundly. Some camping kits get destroyed by these attacks, wasting your money and potentially stranding you on a long journey.
What can you do at camp in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
At camps you can change your assigned skills, chat with your Pawns, and most importantly, rest, replenishing your diminished maximum health. You can also cook those beast scrags and other food you’ve acquired. This will give you boons that can help on your travels.
Once you set up your camp, walking too far away will dismantle it. There’s no cost associated with this other than some wasted time, so don’t worry about it too much, but if you want a smoother experience, do everything you need to do before pitching your tent.
