You Can Finally Play The Bloodborne Demake
Despite new-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series continuing to push the boundaries of graphics through the use of Unreal Engine 5, there's a growing community that is obsessed with demakes. Now, FromSoftware's Bloodborne is the latest to be given a gritty demaster.
From God of War (2018) to BioShock, we've seen plenty of imaginative demakes to show off what modern games might've looked like all those years ago. The Resident Evil Village demake was one of the best we've seen, but unlike most, the Bloodborne demake is actually playable.
When Can We Expect The Bloodborne Demake?
We've previously covered the Bloodborne demake - and were suitably impressed by its trailer - but now, we know it's ready to ship. Posting on Twitter, developer Lilith Walther confirmed the Bloodborne demake is ready to go. This means a release is just around the corner.
Those who've been keeping an eye on the Bloodborne demake will know it's planned for a January 31 release date. The latest update hints that this is still the case, however, there's still no word on what platforms it will be available on and how to download. We'll have to keep an eye on Twitter.
What Is The Bloodborne Demake?
Like any Soulslike game, Bloodborne was relentlessly hard. We're sure this will be the same in the demake, but it remains to be seen how this will stack up with such archaic graphics. Thankfully, Walther has confirmed cheats will be part of the demake, which can help you out of a tight spot.
The Bloodborne demake is the work of Walther and Corwyn Prichard, with the project being in the works since 2018. It's being developed using Unreal Engine and will include full HD with an uncapped framerate... even though it's only 32-bit graphics.
Sadly, you can't expect the full game, as the Bloodborne demake has warned it will only go up to the second boss, Father Gascoigne. Given that Walther said the hardest part has been capturing the title's visceral attacks in demake fashion, we're amazed we're even getting up to Gascoigne. Either way, never look a gift beast in the mouth, especially as the Bloodborne demake will be free.
