No, you can't change your Main Pawn's name in Dragon's Dogma 2
The Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are one of the most important aspects of the game, but unfortunately, you can’t change their name. This means that if you rushed through the incredibly detailed character creator, whipped up a pawn and called him Phil on a whim, you may regret it later - no offence to any Phil's out there.
However, if you did give your Pawn a ridiculous name, then I’ve outlined some of your options below to help your Pawn not seem so ridiculous. Alternatively, you can just lean into it, which in the context of the game would work.
What to do if you give your Pawn a bad name
There are a few options if you're unhappy with your Pawn, but admittedly none of them are ideal:
- You can kill your Pawn and pretend they don’t exist, just leaving them to chill in the Rift
- Change their appearance at a Pawn Guild so they suit their name a bit more
- Cover them in armour so you can’t see them - feels harsh, but out of sight out of mind, right?
- Restart your game… this is a bit of a commitment, though
I spend hours with character creators - for me, it’s the best part of any game. I got lucky with my Pawn and love his name and how he looks. He's named him after my dog and super kindhearted, but it does mean if he gets Dragonsplague I’ll never be able to play the game again at the risk of losing Larry.
Every choice in Dragon's Dogma 2 feels very intentional, so it feels unlikely that you'll ever be able to change your Pawn's name. However, if things change, I'll update this page to reflect the update.
