Is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 coming to Xbox Game Pass?
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Yes, Hellblade 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on May 21
- You'll need to subscribe to either Xbox Game Pass for PC or Game Pass Ultimate
- Hellblade 2 should stay on the service for a while as it's an Xbox exclusive title
Seven years on from the original, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set to release on Xbox and PC platforms, but the question remains whether you’ll be able to play the game on Xbox Game Pass.
The sequel picks up Senua’s journey after we last saw her delving into the underworld to save her long-lost lover. With a significant step up in tech, Hellblade 2 looks to be even more of what Ninja Theory does best, and I know I’m dying to see how the rest of the story plays out.
Like most games, you can purchase Hellblade 2 on its own. However, if you’re a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass, you might want to hold off clicking that purchase button just yet…
Can you play Hellblade 2 on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set to launch on Xbox Game Pass on Day One. That means that if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or Xbox Game Pass for PC, you’ll be able to play the game at no extra cost when it launches on May 21.
Sadly, Hellblade 2 isn’t coming to the Xbox Game Pass Core membership. This is the cheaper membership option that only includes access to around 25 games and the online multiplayer services. You’ll need to shell out a little more each month if you want access to Hellblade 2 at launch.
Of course, if you don't want to purchase Xbox Game Pass to play Hellblade 2, you can always purchase it separately. Just be aware that the game isn't getting a physical release, and will only be available on digital storefronts for a price of $49.99/£49.99.
Given the high price tag for a narrative experience that you can most likely finish in around 10 hours, it might be more cost-effective to purchase a month of Xbox Pass if you're confident you can finish the game in that time frame.
How long will Hellblade 2 stay on Game Pass?
We don’t know for certain how long Hellblade 2 will stay on Xbox Game Pass, but we can make an educated guess that it will stay on there for a good long while.
This is because Ninja Theory is owned by Microsoft, which makes Hellblade 2 a first-party title for the console. Looking at other first-party Xbox titles on Game Pass, like Forza Horizon, Gears of War, and Halo Infinite, those games still remain on Game Pass to this day, years after they first came to the service.
As such, it’s safe to assume that you should have plenty of time to dive into Hellblade 2 on Game Pass if your backlog is like mine - absolutely stacked to the brim.
If anything changes with regards to Hellblade 2 on Xbox Game Pass, I’ll be sure to update this article.
