Zonic on Counter-Strike 2: "For the first six months, it's just going to be what we are used to"
Team Vitality is coming into the BLAST Paris Major as a team with all the ingredients to snag another CS:GO Major championship, and we got the chance to sit down with coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen to discuss the upcoming sequel, Counter-Strike 2.
While the team has access to the new game, the focus is fully on winning the last Major before the switch to Counter-Strike 2. Nevertheless, zonic shared his predictions on the impact of the new game on the esports scene.
Team Vitality hasn't practised on Counter-Strike 2 yet
"No, we haven't practiced it [Counter-Strike 2] at all," zonic reveals.
"I think I opened it in the beginning when I got the key to try a little bit of deathmatch, but other than that I haven't touched it."
"The Paris Major is such a big thing for the company, the players, and everyone behind Vitality that my only focus has been on the Major" he explains.
However, he's expecting a fairly easy transition, when Valve drops the sequel later this Summer.
"After [the major], I will take a look at the game, but I don't expect to see too many changes," zonic says.
"At least at the beginning, I don't think we're going to see too many big revolutionary things. I think there are going to be small changes like having one guy looking through double smokes on Dust II in case any CTs have any tricks up their sleeves.
"I think at least for the first six months it's just going to be what we are used to, just in a better-looking game, but I don't think we are going to see too many big changes strategy-wise at the beginning, I think it's going to come further along the line when eventually some smart bright minds out there come up with new meta ways of using the utility."
