100 Thieves Bang and Asuna rate their new roster and importance of early results
The trials and tribulations of 100 Thieves' VALORANT journey have not been as fruitful as they'd have hoped. Having become a powerhouse across esports in 2022, winning titles in League of Legends and Call of Duty, success wasn't as easy in VALORANT, despite boasting some of the best talents in the scene.
Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk has been a stalwart of the 100 Thieves teams since the organisation first stepped into the scene in 2020, and is widely considered one of the world's best players. Yet finding a winning recipe around their main course has been quite a task for 100 Thieves.
Having earned a notorious reputation for making cutthroat roster changes, 100 Thieves were actually one of the more slick organisations in the pre-franchised VCT rostermania era, opting for just one change to accompany Asuna and three recent recruits.
Matt "Cyrocells" Panganiban was pulled in to offer a new OP dynamic to 100 Thieves, joining Derrek "Derrek" Ha, IGL Brenden "stellar" McGrath, and Sean "bang" Bezerra for the new iteration of the roster who look to find better luck in a fresh competition.
With 100 Thieves preparing to finally tap into their potential, we spoke to Asuna and Bang about their preparation for the Red Bull Home Ground and the importance of finding early success in such a pressured organisation.
Asuna:
In prime Asuna fashion, the laid-back superstar remained political about how his new roster compares to those squads gone by but breathed confidence that 100 Thieves will finally find silverware to add to the org's ever-growing trophy cabinet.
Bang:
"Focus in school" was the message from Bang, who reflected on being lucky enough to make a career from esports, before discussing whether 100 Thieves' reputation for making changes adds any pressure on the players to hit the ground running.
100 Thieves will be looking to get their first taste of victory at the Red Bull Home Ground, where both Asuna and Bang agreed that Cloud9 will be their strongest competitors.
