How to get Credits in Overwatch 2

Credits are back in Overwatch 2, and this is how you can get them. When Overwatch 2 launched, they were demoted to Legacy Credits, but since then they have come back in a new, updated form.

The Credits situation can be a little confusing with all the changes, so here is a simple rundown of what it was, how it has changed, and how it works in the game now.

How can you get Credits?

You can earn Credits by progressing through the Seasonal Battle Pass. The free Battle Pass will reward you with 1,500 Credits, and an extra 500 Credits can be acquired from the premium rewards track.

So basically, all you need to do is complete Daily and Weekly Challenges while playing Overwatch 2, and you'll rack up Credits as you play.

What are Overwatch 2 Legacy Credits?

When Overwatch 2 first launched, it did not carry over the old Credits system as it was from the first game. They were replaced by Legacy Credits and Overwatch Coins. The new coins are a premium currency, which you can purchase with real money to buy in-game items.

Any Credits you had in OW1 were brought forward as Legacy Credits. This currency could only be used to buy legacy cosmetics from the first game. This was just a way of capping off the old system while allowing players to use up their leftover Credits.

Then in Season 3, Credits were returned to the game as part of the Battle Pass. Now you can earn this currency again, and use it to purchase items for your Heroes.

What can you buy with Credits?

Credits are primarily used to buy Hero Skins from the Hero Gallery. However, Blizzard has implemented some changes to make skins more accessible than ever.

Nearly all Epic and Legendary Skins that were released before the launch of Overwatch 2 will be available to purchase year-round with Overwatch Coins or Credits. This includes Seasonal Skins too, like Witch Mercy. Even better, Blizzard is lowering the standard price of these Legendary Skins to 1,500 Overwatch Coins or Credits.

With these changes, Overwatch 2 players can theoretically purchase a Legendary Skin of their choice each season without reaching into their wallets!
