King Dorephan, the monarch of Zora’s Domain, is hiding at “a spot with clear water” in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Finding King Dorephan is the first part of “The Clues To The Sky” quest and a key part of the “Sidon of the Zora” main quest that eventually leads to the Water Temple.

To unlock the 'The Clues To The Sky' Quest, you must have completed 'The Broken Slate' with Jiahto at Toto Lake.

King Dorephan left to investigate the sludge a while ago, leaving Prince Sidon to clean up Mipha Court and deal with the sludge that’s taking over the Domain.

To find his location, you’ll need to eavesdrop on the kids playing inside the throne room in Zora’s Domain. If you haven't completed 'The Broken Slate', this event will not activate.

If you run up to the kids directly, they’ll shoo you away. Instead, climb up the sides of the throne, splash into the pool and move slowly until you're directly behind them. You'll know if you've successfully hidden from the children if a 'Listen' interaction pops up.

You’ll hear them talk about King Dorephan, who is apparently in a cave hidden behind a waterfall.

The waterfall in question is the one between Ploymus Mountain and Zora’s Domain, specifically at coordinates (3611, 0578, 0172). It’s near Mikau Lake, so teleport to the Ihen-a Shrine for ease and scale down the waterfalls.

Heads up - you’ll need to have completed the “Restoring the Zora Armor” quest and spoken with Yona before you embark on your mission. The Zora Armor lets you swim up waterfalls, which you’ll need to talk to King Dorephan. Or, if you're stubborn like me, cook up some Slip Resistance grub and climb up the wall to the right of the waterfall, resting on the slopes as you go.

There are multiple waterfalls in this area, but you’ll know you have the right one if you can swim through the bottom of the waterfall and not bonk your head on a wall.

Head through the waterfall, then through the doorway. Swim up the second waterfall to find King Dorephan.

Speak with him to receive five King’s Scales, which you’ll need to finish the “Clues to the Sky” quest. If you lose them, he’ll kindly give you some more.

Teleport back to Ihen-a Shrine at Mipha Court and talk to Sidon to carry on the quest.
