To get to the Fire Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to need to travel high and low from the top of Death Mountain to the deepest, darkest parts of The Depths.

After resolving Yunobo’s quest and getting him on side as a companion, you’ll be encouraged to make your way to the top of Death Mountain to see the cause of the Marbled Rock Roast. And this is no easy feat.

To get to the top of Death Mountain in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to ride the rails using minecarts to the very top.

Once at the top, you’ll need to jump into the mountain and it will send you straight to The Depths. The temple can be seen in the distance, but it is a bit of a trek.

Fortunately, there are plenty of Zonai devices scattered about to make a mode of transportation. This is made all the simpler when using the Auto-build function, so make sure you have plenty of Zonaite handy, just in case.

Once you’ve made your way to the Temple entrance, the puzzles begin.

Much like the Wind Temple, the boss of the Fire Temple is behind a door with five locks blocking your access. If you’re going to find out the Marbled Rock Roast’s source, you’ll need to unlock the locks to do so. They can be unlocked in any order.

Opening the first lock

The first lock in the Fire Temple in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found on the First Floor in the Southern part of the Structure. The gong you need to impact is behind a large boulder on the other side of a small pool of lava.

  • To help Yunobo cross, you’re going to need to move the nearby Hydrants with your Ultrahand and create some stone slabs by pouring water on the lava.
  • Once your slabs have been formed, attach them to form a ramp that Yunobo can charge over.
  • Once he has broken the boulder, call on him again to bang the gong, and the first lock will open.

Opening the second lock

The second lock in the Fire Temple can be found on the Second Floor in the North. The gong is on the other side of a large lava pool.

  • To access it, you’ll first need to destroy a boulder in the lava that is obstructing the flow of water. Once removed, the water will form slabs that will drift toward you with the current.
  • Once enough slabs have drifted your way, hop on one of them and use the Rewind Rune to reverse time on the slab, and allow it to transport you to the other side of the pool.
  • Once you’re there, use Yunobo to bang the gong, and the second lock will open.

Opening the third lock

The third lock is on the Fifth Floor in the South. After riding the rails to the Fourth Floor, you will come across an area with several broken drawbridges that can be moved with your Ultrahand.

  • Here, you will notice a boulder above one of the bridges when you look up. To smash it, you’ll need to repair and reattach the broken bridge at the back to form a ramp that Yunobo can charge up.
  • Once the boulder is smashed, a block will fall from a hole above. Hop onto the block and use Rewind to send it - and you - back up.
  • Once at the top of the structure, the gong will be right in front of you, so use Yunobo to activate it and open the third lock.

Opening the fourth lock

The fourth lock is on the Fourth Floor in the North. To get there, you’ll need to hop back onto the rails on the third floor and arrange them to lead you up.

  • Once on the rails, you’ll be taken to a room where the gong sits on top of a tall rock and is surrounded by lava. However, there are a few Hydrants in the room to help you access it.
  • As with the first lock, you’ll need to use the Hydrants to form slabs that can be attached to create ramps.
  • Your ramp needs to be positioned at the lava’s edge for Yunobo to first charge up and break the boulder, then follow it up with a second charge to hit the gong and open the fourth lock.

Opening the fifth lock

The final lock is back on the First Floor, close to the door you are gradually unlocking. If you went there earlier, you will have seen that the door is locked, but on the map, there is a hole you can enter from above. You just need to get there.

  • In the same area as the fourth lock, you will see some boulders blocking a doorway. Use the ramps you made earlier to have Yunobo smash them.
  • Once open, return to the area where you rode the rails to the Fourth Floor, and rearrange them to go higher.
  • Once you’re on the fifth floor, hop off the nearby ledge where the rail stops and glide down to the area you opened earlier.
  • From there, you simply dive down the hole in the centre of the room.

At the bottom is your gong to charge into and the final lock will open. What awaits you on the other side may be a challenge though - so make sure you’re sufficiently prepared.

That’s everything you need to solve the five locks puzzle and gain access to the boss in the Fire Temple. If you’re looking for more ferocious beats to fight, why not check out how to beat Gleeok in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
