Resident Evil players pitch their own Fortnite Battle Pass
We're getting 'itchy' for some more 'tasty' Resident Evil content, and while there are rumours that Capcom is working on multiple titles in the undead series, there's still no sign of the hopeful Resident Evil 5 remake or next chapter in the form of Resident Evil 9.
The hallowed halls of the Spencer Mansion are a distant memory to most, and alongside the mainline games and a multitude of spin-offs, we've seen the Resiverse cross over into everything from Street Fighter to Rainbow Six, Dead by Daylight to Fortnite. Nothing could prevent the franchise from breaking out of the lab.
Resident Evil fans want a much bigger Fortnite crossover
While Fortnite's family-friendly aesthetic might not seem like a great bedfellow for the Resiverse, there's been a recent push into more mature skins. We've already seen Fortnite infected by the T-Virus, with Chris and Jill coming in Chapter 2: Season 8, and Leon and Claire arriving in Chapter 4: Season 2.
This still isn't enough for many, and despite the popularity of characters like Albert Wesker, Ada Wong, and the Nemesis monster, they're still yet to arrive. Redditor u/Aggrevating_Tale8988 has pitched their own Resident Evil Battle Pass and asked what you'd like to see.
Fortnite is known for releasing its mini passes, with Star Wars, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and (more recently) Avatar: The Last Airbender all getting their own special treatment. Responding to the OP, one fan said they want "Leon's 'oh no' emote," while another added, "Us not having the Umbrella is something I haven't thought about, but now that I am. WHY IS IT NOT A THING!"
Someone else suggested "a game mode with zombies, Lickers, Tyrants, and other monsters and BOWs." A fourth simply for Leon S. Kennedy's return to the item shop, saying, "I check every day, hoping, with no luck," while another concluded, "I want Ada in Fortnite so bad."
We're here for the Resident Evil resurgence
After the disappointment of 2012's Resident Evil 6, we're amazed to see how the series has turned it back around. Going back to basics with the horror of Resident Evil 7, we've also seen Capcom's modern remakes, starting with 2019's Resident Evil 2, make a not-so-small fortune.
Dead by Daylight has had several Resident Evil crossovers, and with the IP being as big as it is, it's a shame that Epic Games isn't making the most of it in Fortnite. Call of Duty goes hard with horror at Halloween, and with the Horde Rush mode being a staple of Fortnitemares, it would be easy to give it a Resident Evil reskin.
If those whispers of multiple games are true, Capcom has no plans to slow down its ravenous appetite for the Resiverse. Now, all we need Fortnite to do is realise it's sat on a goldmine. Seriously, it's an injustice that Ada Wong has once again been sidelined.
