Resident Evil 9 tipped for release next year, insider suggests reveal coming soon
Resident Evil, as a franchise, might have had a great focus on the classics recently with the launch of the remarkable remake of Resident Evil 4, but it seems to have been quietly trundling into the future behind the scenes since the launch of Resident Evil Village.
We’re long overdue a new title in the franchise after the conclusion of the Winters Saga that began in Biohazard, and players have been wondering just how much work the franchise is putting in to developing the next evolution of the horror series.
And it looks like there could be good news on the horizon.
Resident Evil 9 is getting announced very soon, claims leaker
A new leak has appeared that seems to indicate that not only has the development of the next mainline instalment in the Resident Evil franchise been going on for some time, but it’s finally nearing its end, and is set for an announcement very soon.
Leaker AestheticGamer has taken to Twitter to reveal that the ninth game in the series will be announced “pretty soon” with a release date of next year expected, around January.
Interestingly, though, the game is reported to have been in development since 2018 as the eighth game in the series before Village made the step from spin-off to fully-fledged title, meaning that the game could be getting a release after seven long years in the oven. Supposedly, this game has the biggest budget and longest dev time of anything the franchise has ever seen.
If these leaks are true, they’re reason for massive excitement, as not only could we be about to get a new Resi title, but it could be the biggest new entry we’ve had from the franchise. The leak is to be taken with a pinch of salt, of course, but it’s hard not to be raring for a new chance to take Umbrella down.
