After Ghostbusters, Destiny fans are wondering where their Madame Web collab is
Destiny is no stranger to collabs, but it’s starting to get a bit weird with it. The impact of Fortnite can’t be understated.
Destiny is now entering what seems to be a new phase of bonkers crossovers following its work with the Assassin’s Creed series and even Fortnite itself, sharing that a new collection of Ghostbusters cosmetics is coming to the game. It makes sense, given that both the Ghostbusters IP and Bungie are officially owned by Sony, but equally, it makes no sense whatsoever, being pretty nonsensical as far as movie crossovers go with the looter-shooter franchise. Still, the floodgates are open - and fans are starting to wonder what could come next.
Fans wonder where Destiny could turn next for crossovers
Fans have taken to Reddit to express their confusion with the now-confirmed Ghostbusters crossover coming to Destiny, truly baffled by how exciting the wider world of cosmetic crossovers can be for the game to get something as strange as something to commemorate a new Ghostbusters movie. Weird though it may be, players seem happy enough to let the game go even madder in a bid to justify itself.
“Missed opportunity to make billions with a Madame Web collab,” says one fan in the comments of a Reddit post revealing the strange crossover.
Other fans are a little more deflated by the collab though, with one adding that “Fortnite gets everything. Overwatch gets Cowboy Bebop and Destiny gets....Ghostbusters? A Sony-owned product.”
“I know I'm in the minority, but I hate those collabs,” says another. “Nothing screams Destiny as a Ghostbusters sparrow.”
When are the Destiny Ghostbusters cosmetics arriving?
Weird though they may be, there are some fans desperate to grab the Slimer Ghost shell, and if you’re among them, then there’s good news for you - it’s not that far away.
The cosmetics will be touching down in-game on March 19, so you’ll be able to bag everything you need to start your own Ghostbusting team.
Regardless of whether you’re going to pick the pack up or not, though, it’s certainly a strange cosmetic collection that’s led fan expectations for upcoming collabs to dwindle. Maybe the Madame Web microtransactions aren’t so far off after all.
