Diablo-themed PC horrifies players by using real human blood
Blizzard's Diablo series has never been one for the faint of heart. Though the gore and viscera are seen from some distance, it's still very much there. With all of the grisly biblical references and sacrifices, it's an admittedly dark world to inhabit season after season.
Now, it looks like the hellish dungeon crawler is taking this atmosphere one step further and asking for some real-life sacrifices. Thankfully, it's at least trying to do some good with it.
Diablo reveals blood-cooled PC, horrifies the world
Good grief. A new (admittedly pretty creative) sweepstake is about to take place, as Diablo reveals it's paying it forward to fans who choose to donate blood in the game's name.
Blizzard has announced its new blood drive in hopes of getting players to donate at their local clinics, and it's pledged that once it's met a total of 666 quarts of blood from fans, it'll open sweepstakes to players. The prize is a gruesome one, as you'll be able to win a Diablo 4-themed PC that uses actual human blood as coolant.
One lucky person will win a "custom liquid cooled PC infused with real human blood," boasting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, an Intel Core i9-13900K, 64 GB of DDR5 RAM, and 3 TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD storage. It also comes in a signature Diablo aesthetic with Season of Blood graphics.
The sweepstakes are hilariously on-brand for the game, but it doesn't end there. Even though the blood-cooled PC can only be won by those in the USA, you can earn some goodies for Diablo fans everywhere if you keep donating.
Diablo's Blood Harvest offers free in-game rewards
Though it might seem that one person will be reaping the rewards from a lot of blood-letting, the opposite is actually true. There are a wealth of in-game rewards for players when the drive reaches a series of progression points.
At 33% blood collected, you'll earn the Bloodpetal Anlace dagger, Sever Axe, Heart Necromancer Offhand, Blade Sword, and Bludgeon Druid Staff. At 66%, players will earn the Loch Raeth Maor Barbarian armor set, and when the drive is completed, they'll get the Vermillion Eye Piebald mount.
It's a pretty solid way to encourage players to give blood - even if it gets pumped directly into someone's PC. It's about as weird as we'd expect of Diablo, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
