If you were wondering if you can change your character's appearance in Baldur's Gate 3, keep reading as we've got everything we know about whether you can alter their look after you've created them.

Baldur's Gate 3 had the biggest CRPG launch in history and has become one of the most acclaimed games of the year. While it's been a while since launch, players are still wondering if the option to change their character's looks is available, either in-game or through the many mods available in Baldur's Gate 3.

So, can you change your appearance in Baldur's Gate 3? Let's find out below.

As of Patch 3, you can change your appearance in Baldur's Gate 3 with the Magic Mirror located at camp. Previously, once you had chosen the physical appearance of your character, you were stuck with it for the rest of the game.

At the Magic Mirror, players can change their physical appearance, such as their hair, makeup scars, and more, along with their voice and pronouns.

A player's race and body type are permanent, however, and Origin characters cannot be altered at all. This still provides a tonne of options for further customising your character after you've initially created them though, so you don't need to regret any of your early choices.

Before the introduction of the Magic Mirror, the main way to change appearance in Baldur's Gate 3 was with the clothing or armour you wear. You can change these freely as you find new equipment, or use dyes to alter their colour. Sometimes popping on a certain hat will also slightly alter your chosen hairstyle, too.

There are also some exceptions related to the choices you can make throughout the game, as some of these will have an effect on how your character appears, but these are contextual and few and far between.

For example, during Act I, there is a character you can meet who will offer you a brand-new eye, and should you accept it, it will be a visibly different colour. We don't know how many of these choices are present in the game, but there are a few throughout.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning the Shapeshift spell; this is a level one Illusion spell that lets you change appearance in Baldur's Gate 3 until you enter a Long Rest in camp

This is the most drastic way of changing your appearance, but you can only choose a masculine or feminine version of each race, and it doesn't last until you cast the spell again.

An easy way to get this spell is for players with the Digital Deluxe Edition, as they can grab the Mask of the Shapeshifter from the chest in camp.

That's all for our breakdown of whether you can change your appearance in Baldur's Gate 3, and now you know the option is available at the Magic Mirror in camp.
