It's a Christmas miracle because the story isn't over yet. Game Freak has one more satsuma in the Christmas stocking thanks to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's upcoming epilogue. We're going back to Kitakami for another round of catching those adorable Pocket Monsters.

Although Gen IX was released back in November 2022, its roadmap means The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLCs have only recently landed. Despite the credits rolling on The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, there's the surprise announcement of an epilogue.

You might want to hit the mute button on Twitter, as the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet epilogue is already doing the rounds online. According to multiple gamers, the epilogue was patched into the game via its latest update. The quest is inaccessible because the Mythical Pecha Berry isn't available yet, but that hasn't stopped you from digging into the files.

Story spoilers are everywhere on social media, while the epilogue is apparently called Mochi Mayhem. Aside from going back to Kitakami, we won't spoil the rest of the surprises here. Nintendo is on the warpath, issuing DMCA strikes to anyone who dares upload footage, but safe to say, it's out there.

Similar to Fortnite, Game Freak struggles to keep a lid on Pokemon spoilers, with dataminers often getting the jump on updates before they happen. Considering the Scarlet & Violet epilogue is likely the end of the road for this chapter of the Pokeverse, it's a shame that it's been leaked early.

When does the Scarlet & Violet epilogue release?

Thankfully, there isn't long to wait to actually play the Scarlet & Violet epilogue without annoying Nintendo's legal eagles. The epilogue officially lands on January 11, 2024, meaning it's a New Year's treat for us all to enjoy. Beyond that, we're sure Game Freak is beavering away on another title.

Although Call of Duty is known for churning out games on an annual basis, Game Freak isn't quite there yet. Still, there are claims that Gen X is already on the way and we're packing our bags for another new region. As sad as it may be, it could be time to wave goodbye to Paldea and get ready to welcome a new crop of 'mon to the family.
