With multiple Pokemon games out on Nintendo Switch, more players had been wondering if Pokemon HOME has support for Scarlet and Violet. After all, this is essential for those who want to transfer Pocket Monsters from older games into their Paldean Pokedex.

Without further ado, let's get into everything to know about Pokemon HOME support for Scarlet & Violet, along with how it works.

Does Pokemon HOME support Scarlet and Violet?

Pokemon HOME support for Scarlet and Violet is now available with the version 3.0.0 update which took place on Monday, 29 May 2023.

With this new Scarlet and Violet's support, Pokemon HOME gives you the ability to not only transfer Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet, but you will also be able to transfer select Pokemon over from past games as well - including Sword and Shield, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, and Pokemon Legends Arecus.

The Pokemon website also mentions "the Pokémon you’ll be able to transfer to each game via Pokémon HOME are limited to Pokémon that can appear in those games" - meaning if certain Pokemon aren't coded into Scarlet and Violet for example, you won't be able to transfer them over from Pokemon HOME

This gives you an even better reason to finish your Pokedex and return to past titles to complete them too. Pokemon HOME really is a fantastic service that helps you really feel like you're building a collection between all of your exciting journeys.

Pokemon HOME backwards compatibility leak

A recent leak on potential backwards compatibility will only further add to the excitement of Pokemon HOME support for Scarlet and Violet

Specifically, this comes from the leaker called Khu's fashionable hat - posting the above tweet featuring the Generation 2-era Time Capsule featured in Pokemon Silver, Gold, and Crystal.

For context, this mechanic was and still is the only instance of a Pokemon game letting you send Pocket Monsters to and from older titles. At the time, this made the Gen-2 Johto games compatible with Gen-1's Red, Blue (or Green), and Yellow

What does this mean for Pokemon Home-Scarlet/Violet compatibility? The resulting speculation implies that by using Pokemon HOME, you'll be able to send Generation 9 Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet back to pre-Generation 8 games as well as vice versa.

With the closure of the Nintendo eShop, Scarlet and Violet compatibility seems to rule out sending and receiving Pokemon from Generation 7 or older. That's because Pokemon Bank, the storage application used before Pokemon HOME, is now gone completely.

As of right now, Pokemon HOME's support for Scarlet and Violet doesn't extend beyond being able to send the above 70 Pokemon to the Paldean games. However, we can never say never when it comes to being able to transfer even more Pokemon from older games via potential future updates.

With that, you are equipped with all you need to know for now on when Pokemon HOME will support Scarlet and Violet. In the meantime, if you don't have Pokemon Legends: Arceus to connect to Pokemon HOME, here is another way to get Hisuian Zoroark in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
