How to get all starter Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC
Starter Pokemon from every generation have returned in Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC, but they won't spawn from the beginning of the game - you'll need to spend BP for the privilege.
It's no secret that starters are some of the most popular Pokemon of all time. Whether it's a classic creature like Charmander or a recent addition like Sobble, everyone has their favourite. The good news is that you can get them all in The Indigo Disk expansion!
How to unlock starter Pokemon in The Indigo Disk
Before you can find starter Pokemon in The Indigo Disk's Terarium, you'll need to donate enough BP to the Terarium Club for them to increase the kinds of Pokemon you can encounter in all four Biomes.
It will cost you 3,000 BP to upgrade each Biome, which means you'll need a total of 12,000 BP to unlock all of the starter Pokemon from previous generations. Be aware that this is going to take you quite a while!
BP can be earned by completing Blueberry Quests (BBQ) across the Terarium. These are small quests like catching a Ghost-type Pokemon or picking up 10 items from the ground, and each one will give you around 20 to 40 BP. When you complete 10 BBQs, you'll be given a special BBQ that awards higher BP than usual.
If you're looking to farm BP as quickly as possible, it's definitely worth tackling these quests with friends. Not only will you share progress, meaning you'll get through them much quicker, but you'll also share the rewards with the entire squad. There are also special BBQs that can only be accessed as a group.
Once you've collected enough BP, visit the League Club Room and interact with the computer to donate to the biome that features the starter Pokemon you want (more on that in a minute). You can access this computer at any time in the game; you don't need to finish the story or anything like that.
Where to find all starter Pokemon
Here are the four Terarium biomes and the starters you can find there once they've been upgraded:
Canyon Biome starters
Savanna Biome starters
- Charmander
- Totodile
- Snivy
- Fennekin
- Rowlet
- Sobble
Coastal Biome starters
Polar Biome starters
Even after I upgraded my Terarium's Biomes, some of the starter Pokemon seemed to have very low spawn rates (I'm looking at you, Froakie and Mudkip) so be aware that there might still be some hunting required.
Starter Pokemon also have quite low catch rates in The Indigo Disk, so I'd recommend sneaking up on them and throwing a Quick Ball as soon as the battle begins for a chance to immediately catch them without having to battle them.
If your Quick Ball isn't successful, you can either leave the battle and try again or use a Pokemon with False Swipe to lower their health without the risk of accidentally knocking them out. Hypnosis is another good move to have at your disposal as sleeping Pokemon are easier to catch.
