Due to the large map sizes and fast-paced, chaotic battles in Apex Legends' Outlands, you'll need a consistent frame rate to compete, especially if you plan on taking part in the ranked system.
Luckily, the game has plenty of settings that'll help you smooth out performance, helping you achieve that crisp gameplay you're looking for on PC - so here's how you can improve both your FPS and visibility when diving into a match.
Best settings to use on PC
I'd recommend experimenting a little with the below settings to get the perfect fit for you and your own rig, and obviously, if you can still get 60+ FPS on max settings, it'll always be worth setting it to that.
Setting | Recommendation |
Display Mode | Full Screen |
Resolution | Native monitor resolution |
Field of View | 90 or more |
Color Blind Mode | Personal Preference |
V-Sync | Disable (Enable if you get screen tearing) |
Adaptive Resolution Target | 0 |
Anti-Aliasing | Off |
Texture Streaming Budget | Medium |
Texture Filtering | Anisotropic 2x |
Ambient Occlusion Quality | Low |
Sun Shadow Coverage | Low |
Sun Shadow Detail | Low |
Spot Shadow Detail | Low |
Volumetric Lighting | Disabled |
Model Detail | Medium |
Effects Detail | Low |
Impact Marks | Low |
Ragdolls | Low |
I've opted for lower settings here, as it's guaranteed to help you reach 60 FPS on lower hardware, and aids in visibility when playing, as fewer effects are taking up the screen.
I've personally played with these settings and they make it significantly easier to track foes in gunfights. I maintained a solid FPS, meaning that there was no frustrating lag, even in the midst of countless ability animations.
System requirements for optimal settings
Now that you know which settings are best to use, you'll need to make sure you can actually run Apex Legends by meeting the minimum or recommended system requirements.
This is also a good indicator of how high you can push the settings, as someone whose hardware is well above the recommended settings can max out everything without a penalty to performance.

- Processor: AMD FX 4350 or Intel Core i3 6300
- Memory: 6 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7730 or NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
- DirectX: Version 11

Recommended requirements
