Fortnite is quite the "marvel" isn't it? Some five years after Epic Games had us jumping off the Battle Bus, Fortnite is still going from strength to strength and continues to dominate the gaming and streaming scene. It's become known for its pop culture crossovers, with the might of Marvel Comics bringing in the big bucks.

We've got yet another Marvel-themed season in Chapter 3 Season 2, as the Spider-Man content continues, we add Prowler to the Battle Pass, and Doctor Strange is on the way - presumably in time for Multiverse of Madness. Every time a Marvel skin lands in the shop, players race to spend their V-Bucks, but what if you didn't have to spend a dime?

How Can You Get Fortnite Skins For Free?

In case you haven't heard, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can get three free months of Marvel Unlimited. According to the official Marvel site, you can redeem the offer any time between now and May 31. It gives you access to over 29,000+ comics and 100 Marvel games, meaning now could be a good time to give Marvel's Avengers a go.

Where Fortnite comes into this is the fact we're about to get a crossover comic series akin to the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point miniseries from last year. Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War # 1 is landing in June, and brings Young Cable to the topsy-turvy world of Fortnite. It follows in the footsteps of Fortnite X Marvel – Nexus War: Thor from 2020, which you might remember coincided with the beloved Chapter 2 Season 5.

As per usual, the first issue will come with a redeemable code that gets you a free skin. That skin will be added to the shop a week later, but it'll cost you. With each new issue, there will a code for more Marvel merch. In theory, if you get your Marvel Unlimited pass for free in May, you'll get at least two codes and be able to redeem them in the Fortnite shop.

Is There A Catch?

It's currently unclear if the workaround will actually work, as neither Marvel nor Epic has commented on whether the digital trial comics will include the codes we previously used to download DC's comic book crossover like the Rebirth Harley Quinn skin. However, if it works, it means you can nab some sweet Marvel merch to parade around the map... for absolutely nothing.

Things are a little sketchy, as the official announcement of Zero War says the following in its description: "For a limited time, paid subscribers with a registered account that read all five issues will unlock a code for an additional cosmetic in Fortnite." If this is the case, it suggests you'd have to read all five issues - by which point, your free subscription will have expired. We'll have to wait and see whether we can exploit this loophole, but either way, we can't wait to see which skin is ready to suit up in spandex.
