Landing at a Hot Spot is one of the best ways to secure a top-tier loadout in Fortnite, as these locations feature flying drones that drop weapons and items when shot down.
Hot Spots have been around for a while now, but not everyone knows what they are. You'll occasionally need to land at one of them to complete a weekly challenge, so here's everything you need to know to find them.
How to find Hot Spots in Fortnite
The easiest way to find a Hot Spot is to open the map before you leave the Battle Bus and look for any location names that appear in glowing yellow text. Those are Hot Spots!
There will usually be two in each match. If you're trying to complete a challenge, I'd recommend landing at whichever one is farthest away from the Battle Bus flight path as that location will usually be quieter.
What are Hot Spots?
Hot Spots are named locations on the Fortnite map that have been taken over by flying drones.
These drones contain a range of weapons, items, and ammo, so it's worth shooting them down whenever you see them. In my experience, the weapons inside are usually Uncommon rarity, so shooting down a few can give you a decent headstart in a match.
It's always a bit of a risky move to land at a Hot Spot, though. Not only will there be other players drawn in by the promise of extra loot, but shooting a drone will also give away your location to any opponents within earshot - something you don't have to worry about when opening Chests.
Personally, I don't think the risk is worth it, especially when you can get better loot by searching Rare Chests. However, if you need to land at a Hot Spot to complete a challenge or you've stumbled into one by accident, drones can be a reliable source of guns and healing items.
