Helldivers 2 fans celebrate after devs finally fix infuriating spawn rates
When it comes to Helldivers 2, it's all about taking down intimidating foes and liberating planets for the greater cause of spreading democracy across the galaxy.
If there was no challenge involved in this objective, everyone would get bored very quickly. However, this works the other way as well, with it being important that the gameplay feels balanced.
This hasn't been the case over the last month, with fans complaining that "ugly" spawns are overrunning them with opponents that feel impossible to defeat.
Luckily, the devs have finally responded to these spawn rate issues and are tackling the problem with a set of significant changes.
Helldivers 2 devs fix "ugly" spawn rate problems
Taking to the Helldivers subreddit, Arrowhead Community Manager The_Real_Twinbeard announced that major changes would be coming to "spawn rates" and "patrols."
First, Twinbeard acknowledged that "something has been off with patrols and spawn rate for some time now," saying it's resulted in "more enemies rearing their ugly heads than they're supposed to."
This lack of balance in the number of opponents a player has to face has left them "feeling overrun" and subsequently led to "less fun gameplay."
To combat this, Twinbeard revealed that Arrowhead would be "reverting back to how patrols and spawn rate worked before the patch that changed them a few weeks ago." This should mean fewer situations where a skirmish feels borderline impossible and doesn't reward you for playing well.
Helldivers 2 community celebrates brilliant changes from Arrowhead
This news has been welcomed with open arms by Helldivers across the globe, all over the moon that a little more fairness has been injected into the gameplay. It's also appreciated that this was directly communicated to the fanbase on Reddit instead of just in patch notes.
"Official comms on Reddit is EXTREMELY appreciated, I just can't comb through the chaos of Discord," said one user, with another claiming, "Another win for democracy! Most of us divers have gotten so accustomed to the latest enemy onslaught that we are going to be extra-vigilant about our planet liberation after the spawn rate gets corrected."
This revert update hasn't gone live just yet but expect it to be rolled out very soon. It's clear this decision has been made after feedback from the community, so let's hope the devs continue to listen.
