Having to grin and bear through two years of Modern Warfare 2 might be worth it in the long run after all, as the labs at Treyarch are warming up to cook up something quite special in 2024.

In all honesty, Infinity Ward hasn't done too bad with MW2, but Treyarch waits eagerly in the background and is ready to open up one massive can of worms - or maggots from the dead flesh of their last characters...

Development for Treyarch's 2024 title is already underway, but recent job listings indicate that the studios are going all-in on the next wave of Zombies gameplay.

Previous job listings from the Call of Duty developers confirmed that Zombies is set to be returning to the franchise in the presumed-to-be Gulf War-focused title, even going as far as hinting at the return of Outbreak and some kind of Warzone integration.

Since then, Treyarch has been silently adding more and more positions to their vacancy page, and now, five leadership roles have opened that will focus on Zombies.

Jobs listed on Hitmarker.

Treyarch's Two Studios Are Both Working On Zombies for 2024 Game

The five listings are all for its Vancouver-based development studios, however, both the Senior Zombies Gameplay Engineer and Lead Zombies Gameplay Engineer roles mention the Los Angeles HQ, meaning that both of the studios will be working on Zombies this year.

The huge influx of Zombies engineers points to a mass effort being poured into the game mode for 2024, where devs will likely look to continue to Aether storyline that was reignited with Die Maschine in Black Ops Cold War and was left open with Firebase Z.

Treyarch might even have two years worth of content to be developing, too, with leakers suggesting that the developers will be given the same window of opportunity that was given to Infinity Ward. Something is crawling from the grave, and we can't wait.
