All Rise of the Ronin stats explained & how to reset them
Before beginning your adventure in Rise of the Ronin, you will be asked to choose your Sharpening Origin which will in turn influence your stats - but before diving in, you may need them explained. Fortunately, you can tweak how you’ve spent your skill points later if you're unsure, but not your origin. That said, to succeed in the game you will need to dip into each skill tree.
There are four types of stats, as well as Secondary Stats which impact things like health. The Secondary Stats are upgraded gradually as you level up so you don’t need to worry about those - your focus will be on your Primary Stats.
I mainly went for a Dexterity build, so that is the category I know the most about, but to succeed in the game you will need to spread your Skill Points around.
Primary Stats explained
There are four Primary Stats in Rise of the Ronin:
- Strength: Increase attack power and specific skills related to combat
- Dexterity: Increases effectiveness of ranged weapons and skills related to stealth/assassination
- Charm: Enhances Blade Flash ability and bond-related skills
- Intellect: Improves dialogue options, better knowledge of medicine and crafting options
During my playthrough, I would often find myself nabbing skills from different trees depending on what I needed. This isn’t about becoming a specialist in one, but instead being the full package.
You can also earn Skill Points that are specific to certain skill trees and can only be spent on certain Skill Points. For example, the Sprint Assassination requires four Dexterity Points, not regular Skill Points.
What are the Secondary Stats?
There are 10 Secondary Stats in total, but instead of manually levelling these up, they will gradually increase automatically as you get stronger.
The Secondary Stats are:
- Health
- Primary Attack
- Secondary Attack
- Defence
- Stagger
- Poise
- Ki Recovery
- Infliction
- Adaptability
- Luck
How to reset Primary Stats
To reset your stats in Rise of the Ronin, follow the below steps:
- Go to the Longhouse and rest
- Once in the Longhouse, select Relax
- Now select Blade Repair
- Now you can reset any skills you have acquired but you will need a Brush Kit to do so
The process of resetting your stats is very simple, but finding a Brush Kit is where the challenge is going to come in. I haven’t seen many during my time with the game, and I’m not sure exactly how many there are, but below I've outlined where you can find them.
Where to find Brush Kits in Rise of the Ronin
So far, I’ve seen two Brush Kits:
- In the Miyozaki gambling Den for 100 Tokens
- Black Marketeer by the Longhouse
I will make sure to update this page once I find all the other Brush Kits.
