How to complete no-kill missions in Rise of the Ronin
As you progress through Rise of the Ronin, there will be missions that require you to take a non-lethal approach, so here is the best way to tackle no-kill missions.
From the early missions in Rise of the Ronin, the gory style of the game will be very noticeable, but this changes when you first come across the Hidden Motives quest which is the first non-lethal mission in the game's story.
All you need to know about completing no-kill missions
Completing no-kill missions is very simple as long as you follow the below steps:
- Unequip any weapons
- Alternatively, use wooden weapons
- Sneak, trying to avoid conflict
By utilising one of the above methods you’ll avoid killing anyone, but make sure you have taken off any weapons that can seriously injure before assassinating an enemy - this is where I slipped up the first time. Because the wooden weapons count as non-lethal it is important to upgrade the ones you start with or buy new ones, regularly.
Alternatively, if you’re going to avoid open conflict as much as possible, making sure you’ve upgraded the stealth options in the Dexterity skill tree will be a big help in ensuring you remain hidden. Also, as an extra little bonus, completing a mission without killing anyone causes the Life Saver trophy to pop.
The first no-kill mission I did was the initial side quest for Matthew Perry in the Yokohama Grand Villa. I accidentally did kill someone (oopsie daisy) and it didn’t fail the mission, so I’m unsure of the consequences if you fail one of these missions, but I didn’t get the bonus objective.
