There are few feelings worse than your favourite gun getting nerfed into the ground, and unfortunately for Call of Duty fans, it's been a story almost 20 years old.

We'll never forget the PDW changes in Black Ops 2, which, albeit unearthing the MSMC, ruined our favourite gun of the era.

This all-too-familiar tale is coming back to echo its one-thousandth chapter, as Warzone's new Kar98k is set to be nerfed.

The Kar98k was a massively sought-after weapon in Warzone 2 after it dominated the first battle royale for the better part of three years.

But after being added in Season 4, it looks like the fabled sniper is already getting nerfed and the fans are going mental.

Taking to a subtle post on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games confirmed that the Kar98k was being nerfed in Season 4 Reloaded, although the nature of how the gun will be "balanced" is unknown.

For some, this was needed as FaZe Clan streamer Kris "Swagg" Lamberson sarcastically said, "Going top prison and seeing 4 sniper glints gives me such a rush". But for the most part, there has been outrage.

Warzone fans left fuming with upcoming Kar98k nerfs

Given its popularity, fans have quickly begun venting on social media, claiming that these changes are ruining the game.

"L update this is the most fun Warzone has been probably since the game came out," said one aggrieved fan. Another added, "Time to leave that trash game. They always nerf what the community loves."

Others hoped that it's only a minor change, maybe a small ADS time delay. "I hope it’s only a slight nerf. If they bury this gun into the ground I’ll probably stop playing Warzone for a hot minute," a third fan added.

With hope, the Kar98k will get balanced but still be viable, as there's no denying that it is overwhelmingly popular and overpowered, so much so that Urzikstan is more like whack-a-mole where players' heads are taken off every time they peek up.
