Warzone’s The Haunting jumpscares are ‘too scary’ for players to handle
Warzone isn't for the faint-hearted. Even if you're the most experienced arcade soldier that the world has ever seen, there's enough action and thrill going on that the occasional pop-up can shiver the timbers off a pirate ship.
The Call of Duty battle royale has done enough with invisible skins in recent years to make characters serve as jumpscares.
But now, The Haunting is bringing back lootbox jumpscares alongside a wealth of demonic and ghoulish characters, and fans are losing it.

This year, players are already hating them though, as the ear-shattering sound that comes from the boxes is enough to let warm liquid trickle down your leg.
"As a huge horror movie fan, I agree [that they are fun], but they WAAAAY overdid it in this event," one fan argued.
"The volume is stupidly loud, like genuinely damages your hearing if you are wearing a headset loud. I had to lower my game volume so much that I couldn't hear anything else, so it made it impossible to play the game," they continued.
Others also pointed out that the frequency of these soul-hurting scares is enough to drive you to the nearest asylum - although that's not recommended this time of year...
Warzone fans 'tricked' into a false sense of security
In possibly the most hilarious stroke of genius, or an absolute drop of the ball depending on how you look at it, Warzone has completely sacked off the treats and tricked those who are looking for a safer haven.
For those players who aren't quite feeling the jumpscares, like many are, Call of Duty offered a toggle for the frights to be turned off. Or so you believed.
"Also, the jumpscares on or off switch only shuts them off in the battle pass. You still have them in the actual game," one fan noticed.
It might just be troll, but this April Fool's has come a good six months too early, and maybe it's time that Activision put some of the weaker-hearted players at ease.
