Hoards of undead flesh eaters. Check. Biggest Zombies map ever made in Call of Duty. Check. A DMZ-styled team-orientated open-world experience. Check.

Call of Duty's next Dark Aether experience is really heating up as the developers are combining Zombies and DMZ for Modern Warfare 3.

That's right, as part of the Modern Warfare 3 reveal, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch are combining forces to bring us an Outbreak-DMZ crossover mode.

For the first time in Modern Warfare, the Dark Aether story from Black Ops has arrived

But the game mode will be building on top of Outbreak as we've previously seen it, by combining it with DMZ-styled open-world elements.

Players will be able to team up with other squads to take down the bigger threat - pretty Jon Snow rallying the armies against White Walkers vibes - as you'll all be trying to push yourselves to the limit before extracting with your loot.

The mode is developed by Treyarch on the Sledgehammer Games title, where your new movement mechanics will be pivotal to slipping away from the greasy finger bones of zombies.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will be the 'biggest map ever'

The Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode will also be played on the "largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever", which must trump the three landscapes that we had in Cold War.

It's likely that the map will be somewhat similar to the size of something we've previously seen in Warzone and DMZ, as you'll be constantly fighting new "missions" and uncovering "secrets".

The new mode has the potential to bring out the best in both Zombies and DMZ, but that does mean there are two sets of fans who will be hoping that their beloved pastimes aren't ruined, especially given round-based zombies are being kept back until CoD 2024.
