As the developer behind Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Monolith Productions has some legacy. Also known for its iconic Nemesis System, having the team on the upcoming Wonder Woman game is quite the coup.

Unfortunately, there's not been much movement on the superhero showstopper since it was announced back in 2021, with the latest news suggesting it's in a 'troubled' state. We know comic book video games are a tentpole of Warner Bros.', but after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League bombed, confidence has been shaken.

Wonder Woman leaks tease an iconic villain

While Monolith presumably tinkers away in Themyscira, there's no official news on where things are up to. Thankfully, some tasty leaks tease where Wonder Woman is up to and potentially reveal the game's big bad. Wonder Woman will tell its own unique story, and in this leaked concept art, we can see an iconic villain from the pages of DC Comics.

Posting on the DC subreddit, u/ThrowawayMedicalAcc has apparently unearthed an online marketing survey. Although the images have since been deleted, they were up just long enough for fans to share them with the wider internet. Alongside impressive vistas of Themyscira, the leaks tease UK pricing of £69.99, a PEGI 12+ rating, and the game's platforms.

Easily, the most tantalising tease is the concept art of what looks like Circe. Introduced in 1949's Wonder Woman #37 and based on the Greek mythological figure who imprisoned Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey, Circe is one of Diana Prince's most iconic enemies. By the looks of it, she's the main villain of Monolith's game.

Although we should take this next bit with a pinch of salt, an apparent plot description doubles down on Circe's involvement. Wonder Woman is apparently a "single-player action-adventure" game, where Diana will use her "godlike strength to deal shattering blows and tear through enemies in an epic battle to protect [Wonder Woman's] birthplace."

The description adds, "The sorceress Circe has invaded your home island of Themyscira, leading an army of cyclops, gorgons, and other monsters. It is up to you, as champion of the Amazons, to return home and fight her betrayal."

Diana will reportedly work to 'repair' her relationship with her mother, Queen Hippolyta, and her fellow Amazons. This is because the home team feel betrayed that Diana left them years ago. It's interesting that for all these believable details, there's no release date - which casts doubt on the leaks considering there's supposedly a price.

With Monolith going to ground on Wonder Woman updates for too long, we're long overdue for an update on where things are up to. Whether we get one remains to be seen, but if all of the above is true, it could spur Monolith into action.
