Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake gets a slick new trailer at Xbox Games Showcase
What a thrill, the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake has finally been announced after so much speculation, and there is plenty to be excited about if you're a fan of the original or have been dying to play it. The previously PlayStation 2 exclusive title has been ported to plenty of consoles since, but now we will soon have the opportunity to play the game all over again in remake form.
As arguably the most acclaimed of the Metal Gear Solid series - which is incredibly high praise - Snake Eater takes Big Boss back to his origins in the Soviet Jungle of the 1960s, with the heightened tensions of the Cold War and geopolitical defections at the forefront.

Is there a launch window for Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake?
Unfortunately, there is currently no information regarding a launch window for Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
While the rumours have been circulating for quite a while now, that is still no indication of how soon the game is going to come out, and we might be waiting at the very least until late 2024 if no date has been shown yet. 2024 would mark the 20th anniversary of the original, though, so perhaps that'll be the perfect time.
At least we have the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection to tide us over soon, so you'll be able to catch up on the original before you jump into the remake.

Are there any Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake trailers?
The first trailer we saw for the game was revealed at a PlayStation event. This is only a short trailer that takes us on a journey through the jungle, with animals progressively getting eaten by their larger prey, with the eventual reveal of Naked Snake's face within the shadows.
In October 2023, the game resurfaced again, this time at an Xbox Partner Showcase. This "in-engine" look showcases the remake's environments, some of Snake's animations, and many of the deadly predators lurking within the jungle.
Despite this, we still don't know which developer is working on the remake, but we'll update this page as we hear more.
Our latest trailer is from the Xbox Games Showcase, and features much more gameplay.
Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake gameplay details
According to the official website, the development team of the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake are working hard to 'make the game a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.'
From this, we can infer that the tactical espionage action of the original will remain intact, with various quality-of-life improvements that will 'modernise' the game. This might not be to the taste of some fans of the original, but we will have to wait and see the extent of the changes once more gameplay details become available.
If you've never played Metal Gear Solid 3 before, however, its general gameplay structure is split between stealth sections and large set pieces. You will spend a fair amount of your time sneaking through the forests and jungles, silently taking down enemies or avoiding them altogether by using special tricks. There are also quite a few boss fights in the game, with some offering a more non-traditional experience than you might expect.
