While you can run games at 1440p (QHD) resolution on the Xbox Series S, you will more often than not struggle performance-wise, so we have focused entirely on 1080p (FHD) displays.
The best thing about 1080p gaming on the Series S is that you can often play games up to 120 FPS - which you will almost certainly want to do whenever you can. To see a difference though, you'll need a monitor with a refresh rate beyond the standard 60Hz, though most gaming monitors these days are equipped with a refresh rate of at least 144Hz.
