MultiVersus showed huge promise when its beta launched last year, and when players had decided they  were all-in, its disappearance was pretty shocking.

The game vanished off the face of the earth, and the game's social media platforms went silence, leaving fans to worry that we simply wouldn't see it again.

Thankfully, though, a new video from the game's team has revealed that it wasn't all wasted potential, and that the game is finally, finally, gearing up for a comeback.

MultiVersus is back

It has been revealed after its shock shutdown following its popular beta, the Warner Bros Smash-alike fighter MultiVersus is making its comeback on May 28.

The announcement comes after a teaser tweet from the game's Twitter page last week, which included a message directly from the developers of the game.

"The team has heard your feedback," says the game director of MultiVersus and co-founder of Player First Games in a developer update. "We've learned a lot from our open beta. We've been hard at work."

It is revealed that every character in the game will be getting new animations and moves to help to bolster their appearance in the game, which equally, will be improved by the game's move to Unreal Engine 5. New characters and stages have been lined up to join the game, and though none were revealed today, more are expected to appear before the game's re-launch.

The game is set to return to PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch in May, and more details about the game itself will come to light in the coming weeks.
