Ask any Nintendo fan, and they'll tell you that we're in the endgame. The general consensus is that the Nintendo Switch is finally on its last legs in the console game, and now as pirates start to crawl out of the woodwork with a new "game backup device" on the market, we could be in more need of a Nintendo console than ever.

Fans are not only wondering what the new console will look like, but also if it will be a direct successor to the Switch, and most importantly, what games it will have to offer. And now, there's a new claim that one of Nintendo's most anticipated projects will be ready for the new hardware.

Metroid Prime 4 looks to be almost finished

A new report from YouTuber SuperMetalDave64 claims that Retro Studios is in the final stages of completing Metroid Prime 4. A new video on the YouTube channel says that the rate of leaks from Metroid Prime 4 indicate that the title is nearing completion.

Added to this, the reveal (via LinkedIn) that the game's team is using Jira for bug fixing and quality assurance has hinted that Metroid Prime 4 is finally in a playable state. This matches up with other suggestions that Samus' next chapter has been done for a while.

It's compelling evidence for those who have been out of the loop with Metroid Prime, but ultimately, it doesn't indicate a whole lot. Games have a tendency to start fixing bugs at any point during development, but at least it hints there's something behind the scenes that is reminiscent of what the final product will become.

The video goes on to add that playtester Edwin Atwell suggests his time with Metroid Prime 4 could be drawing to a close when considering the timeframe of his work with the Call of Duty series. This fits whispers that a Switch successor could be coming near the 2024 holiday season.

Wit this, there are high hopes that Metroid Prime 4 could go straight to the next piece of kit rather than the OG Nintendo Switch. It looks like we're closer that ever to confirmation of where and when Samus will blast back into action with Metroid Prime 4. Now Nintendo, give us the trailer or we're going to stop asking nicely.
