For those of us who have loved playing Hogwarts Legacy, or are thinking about picking it up for the first time, you may be wondering if Hogwarts Legacy has multiplayer.

Multiplayer modes can be a great way to freshen up your gameplay experience by playing with friends. After all, there's nothing more tantalising than the prospect of exploring the secret corridors of Hogwarts with friends and racing against them from the back of a broomstick.

Does Hogwarts Legacy have multiplayer?

Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player RPG experience that follows in the footsteps of the Fallout and Assassin's Creed franchises. Although there is a suitably massive world that extends past the castle to the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade, and beyond, you'll have to go it alone unless you're willing to explore mods from the Hogwarts Legacy community.

The game sticks to a classic RPG formula of an open world and a strong overarching storyline following the antics of a late-commer fifth-year student with a hidden gift. As such, Hogwarts Legacy is not suited nor made to be more than a single-player experience, much to the disappointment of many fans.

All hope is not lost, however. Some players in the modding community have taken it upon themselves to create a multiplayer mode for Hogwarts Legacy. Read below for more information on the mod and how to download it for yourself.

Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer mod

Thanks to The Together Team, it is possible to get Hogwarts Legacy in multiplayer via the HogWarp mod. 

The team has finished its first build of the mod that allows up to ten players in the game at once, available to supporters on its Patreon page.

Work on the mod is ongoing and unsupported by Warner Bros, so be careful if you decide to get involved. As always, remember to backup save files before experimenting with mods.

Previously, the team worked on the highly popular Skyrim Together mod, Fallout Together mod and Cyber Engine Tweaks for Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Cyberpunk 2077. Could Hogwarts Legacy add multiplayer?

With so much work having gone into Hogwarts Legacy, we guess there's scope for WB to expand beyond the base game. It's easy to imagine DLCs that could take us to the likes of the Ministry of Magic or Gringotts Bank, but what if a multiplayer element is also on the cards?

You only have to look at the success of Grand Theft Auto V and its GTA Online spinoff to see how things could work. Sure, Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player RPG for now, but who's to say it can't add an MMO aspect to ensure longevity?

We'd argue that a magical MMO has the potential to even top GTA Online in terms of popularity. Considering the massive success of the open-world Harry Potter game, just imagine what that would be like if we took it online.

Whether Hogwarts Legacy goes multiplayer or not, we've got to admit that Quidditch (which isn't playable in the game as of writing) would be a lot more fun with you and your mates swooping around the pitch on broomsticks and whacking a Bludger at your House rivals
